The 2014 Ivy Plus Symposium, co-hosted by Harvard University and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, welcomed 130 outstanding undergraduates largely from underrepresented groups to Cambridge, MA.

Faculty from the nation’s leading universities in a variety of fields, including anthropology, American studies, astrophysics, biomedical sciences, comparative literature, history, music, psychology, and sociology, presented their work as part of the concurrent faculty research talks held on Friday and Saturday. George Church, Professor of Genetics at Harvard Medical School and one of the leaders in innovative genomic technologies, gave the keynote address.

During the course of the weekend, there were numerous opportunities to network with faculty, graduate students, administrators and alumni. Students attended panel discussions covering admissions, graduate student life, and career opportunities for PhD’s. The Ivy Plus Scholars also had an opportunity to present their own work in a research poster session where they received feedback from faculty, graduate students, and postdoctoral scholars. A link to the program can be found here.

The next Ivy Plus Symposium will be held at Princeton in 2016. Please check the website for updates in the future.
